Traveling With Your Pet

Crystal Mountain and the surrounding Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest are a haven for pet-lovers. All trails on National Forest land are open to pets and many are open for stock animals. Both Alta Crystal Resort and Crystal Mountain Hotels offer pet-friendly rooms. Advance reservations are required. See the lodging page for contact information.

More Information on Hiking

Dogs are welcome on all trails within the Crystal Mountain trail system. And as another bonus, dogs are allowed in the Mt. Rainier Gondolas during the summer months.

Inside the park boundaries of Mt. Rainier National Park, your pet can only go where your car can go: on roads, in parking lots and campgrounds. Your pet must be on a leash (not more than 6 feet long) and under your control at all times and may not be staked. Within the park, pets are not allowed on trails, in the snow, or in any buildings or amphitheaters. The only exceptions are service animals such as seeing-eye and hearing-ear dogs. The one trail bordering the park and allowing dogs is the Pacific Crest Trail. It is located near the park’s eastern boundary, accessed at the top of Chinook Pass, near the historic Entrance Arch.
